The pre-college program of America International (4 months) offers the fastest and easiest way to become integrated with the life in an American university, so that in the future, it will be a much easier transition. 4 hours per day of English class will help students reach a suitable level of the language and intensive training with specific focus on an America style of tennis will help them prepare for play at the university level. Special attention will be focused on serve and volley and an attacking style of play, along with doubles play, very important for coaches of American universities. Students will become acclimated to the American way of life, and will improve their level of English greatly in a short time period. This is very important when trying to find a university that fits the needs of each student/athlete, as well as obtaining a scholarship that matches family’s financial needs. The program includes the following points: Preparation for each of the following exams.
America International will advise the student/athlete what exam they will need to prepare for. S.A.T. (English and Math exam necessary for the access to a university). The SAT exam is offered 7 times per year T.O.E.F.L. (English exam) This test is comprised of 5 parts, listening, reading and understanding, grammar, writting and oral communication. This exam is offered once per month. G.E.D. (Entrance exam to America universities for those above 16 years old). This exam is directed to students 16 years old and older who have not completed the secondary education of their home country, but wish to enter an American university. This exam is offered monthly.
2. Training and tournaments. Specific training in each sport is available Our tennis players will train 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday from 2:45 – 5:45 in the McMullen Tennis complex in Clearwater, Florida. This sports complex is considered one of the top 5 best training centers of the United States. They will also participate in 2 tournaments per month, as part of the U.S.T.A. (United States Tennis Association). For those who choose golf: This particular class will be 2 hours per week, taught by an American Golf Pro. The Featherland Sound Country Club and the Country Side Country Club will be available for play. Both are very nice, 18 hole, par 72 golf courses. For those who choose soccer: Training will take place at facilities in Clearwater, close to the school where classes are held.
3. Lodging and meals. Players will live with an American family, who will provide lodging and meals. The lunch will consist of a packed lunch, or a lunch to go. 4. Academic Program. This program will take place Monday through Friday, from 8am – 12 pm noon. These classes will take place at Schiller International University. There are 3 levels of study, depending on the level of English each student has: elementary, intermediate and advanced. 5. Starting dates. New programs start every Monday during the year, except on holidays. 6. Visits to American Universities. Participants of this program will visit at least 8 universities in Florida and Georgia, as to know exactly what an American university is like. These visits are organized by America International and will occur throughout the student/athletes stay (the first two weeks of September and the first two weeks in April, approximately). The expenses which will occur during these trips will be the responsibility of the student/athletes, as far as meals and lodging is concerned; transportation expenses will be taken care of by America International. These visits are a fundamental part of the program and will have to be made by all participants. 7. Scholarship Gaurantee. Female tennis players will be guaranteed a 100% scholarship, while men will receive between 75-100% scholarships. The only requirement will be the completion and satisfactory results necessary for acceptance by the University.
