This program is designed especially for young athletes whose goal is

to attend an American university with a sports scholarship. Having the proper familiarization, preparation and knowledge of the American higher education system is the key to achieving this goal. However, any students who wish to improve their English and athletic ability while living an unforgettable experience are also welcome.This summer camp is a first introduction to the United States of America, its culture and the operation of its universities. America International offers this exclusive program in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, featuring a unique combination of sports and education. America International Summer Camp consists of the following details:

DATES

                    June 27th – July 26th 2010

                    Possibility of a fifth week until August 1th


FLIGHT TO BOSTON

The Spanish residents will be on a flight from Madrid with the destination of Boston – USA. An America International group leader will accompany the group during the flight.

GROUP LEADERS

The group leaders (members of America International and group monitors) will be the ones responsible during the entire stay of the students abroad to make it as pleasant as possible. They will accompany them during the travelling, the trips and the excursions. Furthermore, they will always be with the students during their classes and their training sessions.

RESIDENCE

The students will be staying in the residence halls of PINE MANOR COLLEGE. The campus is situated in a beautiful wooded area, just 15 minutes from Boston´s city center. Among some of the campus´greatest facilities are: a computer lab, library, tennis courts, fitness center, soccer fields, etc. The students will enjoy their breakfast and dinner in the residence hall, while their lunches will be served at the facilities of the Tennis Camp at Harvard.

SPORTS TRAINING

Tennis:

From 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., the students will have three and a half hours of intense tennis and physical training. The tennis practices will take place at the Tennis Camp at Harvard. These are the same facilities used by the prestigious Harvard University tennis team. They consist of 18 outdoor courts and 12 indoor courts. The physical activities will take place at the soccer and football fields, which are located in the University sports complex.

Golf:

From 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., the students will have half an hour of intensive golf lessons followed by three hours of golf practice with private instructor at the Brookline Golf Club of Putterham. This 18 hole golf course was designed and built by Stiles and Van Kleek in 1931, and is situated less than a mile away from the Pine Manor College residence. Basketball:

The students will have the choice of attending English classes in the mornings followed by intensive basketball training at either the Boston Celtics basketball camp or the NIKE basketball camp from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or spending all day at the basketball camp from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ENGLISH CLASSES 

This program includes daily English classes that will be held four days a week from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. The classes are given by qualified American teachers at the university campus.

SPORTS TOURNAMENTS

Tennis players will be signed up for the Level 5 Todd Morsilli New England Clay Court Championships. In this tournament, they will be competing for first place during the July 15th weekend. The students will enjoy the remaining weekends by going shopping, to the movie theater, the beach, etc., always accompanied by the America International group leaders.  No tournaments are available for golf or basketball players at this time. 

DAY TRIPS

On Wednesdays (to avoid crowds), our students will have the opportunity to visit the following places:

  • Harvard University and Boston College: Two of the most internationally renowned educational institutions. Both are highly-rated academically and boast campuses that accommodate impressive facilities. Moreover, Harvard University is known to be the most prestigious university in the world. Our students will go on a guided tour of the entire campus and will discover all the secrets of these universities.
  • The City of Boston:  A guided bus tour will bring the students to the most relevant tourist sites of Boston. They will visit the New England Aquarium, where one can find sea turtles, tropical fish, and even sharks, and also the Skywalk Observatory, the highest window in Boston where they will be able to observe the entire city from the 50th floor of the Prudential Center building.
  • Wrentham Village Premium Outlets: Shopping center with more that 170 factory outlet stores of almost any name-brand: Timberland, Levis, Puma, Nike, Adidas, DKNY Jeans, GAP, Polo Ralph Lauren, Versace, Sony…
  • New York City:  Located just over 3 hours from Boston is possibly the most symbolic city in the United States. Our students will go on a guided tour where they will be able to gaze at the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and Central Park among other marvels.

RETURN TRIP

The students will return to their country of origin on a flight from Boston.
